Pineapple Teriyaki Turkey Skewers

One of my favorite things to do is host small get togethers. Over the years I have been able to host birthday parties, summer parties, cookies exchanges and even a few craft nights. My favorite get togethers would have to be summer barbecues. I carefully cut the sausages into bite sized pieces and place them in a gallon size Ziploc bag. I poured in some canned pineapple juice, teriyaki sauce and a touch or garlic powder and let it sit overnight. The flavors the next day with the fresh veggies was delicious!
Some of our favorite veggies we used for our skewers were cherry tomatoes, zucchini, red peppers and then we added some pineapple chunks. You could also use mushrooms, squash, onions and whatever other favorites your family has.
Pineapple Teriyaki Turkey Skewers
Ingredients
- 1 lb Shady Brook Farms turkey sausage , cut into bite sized pieces
- 2 cups pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce or marinade
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- Favorite Veggies , cut into bite sized pieces
- wooden skewers
Instructions
- Place bite sized turkey pieces in a gallon sized Ziploc bag or bowl. Pour pineapple juice and teriyaki sauce over turkey. Add garlic powder. Place bag or bowl in the refrigerator and allow to marinade over night or for at least 4 hours. While turkey is in the refrigerator soak your skewers if they are wooden so they don't catch on fire. Carefully place your bite sized veggies and turkey on skewers. Cook on grill for 15 minutes or until turkey is no longer pink.
Carefully add your sausage and veggies to the skewers and place on the grill until cooked through. Our skewers took about 15 minutes on a low/medium heat setting. At this time you could make a second batch of marinade to baste on your veggies and sausage while cooking but soaking the turkey overnight really does enough.
Useful Favors: while favors are certainly not necessary for hosting a party they can be fun to give to your guests. For a barbecue party, making a big batch of your favorite barbecue rub and placing them in a small jars for your guests to take home will be a big hit!
