With a new baby on the way, we need to rearrange some rooms in our house. Currently our spare bedroom is a quest bedroom. Before we can move the guest bedroom furniture in the basement to make a new nursery we needed to clean out the basement. I went through all of Jakeys clothes that don't fit anymore. I found his Mickey Mouse onesie that he used to wear around 3 months old.

Recently his new favorite T.V. show to watch is "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" I figured rather than waiting to see if we have another boy who can wear the shirt, I would just save the character and make him a little bag with his new friend!

Now that Jacob is out of the " I need to pack 3 bottles, 3 change of clothes and 20 + diapers" stage, I think I can finally retire my diaper bag for a few months before I need it again.

This drawstring bag is perfect for any age toddler.

Cut out TWO 14 in. x 16 in. main fabric piece rectangles.

Cut out TWO 14 in. x 16 in. lining rectangles

Cut out the character. Sew to the front of your bag.

Lay your two main pieces together. RIGHT sides together. Place a pin about 1 1/2 inches down from the top and then another pin about 1 inch away from the first pin.

Sew around both sides of your bag and the bottom. Dont sew where you put the pins. This is where you will be putting your rope or ribbon

Hot iron your side seams out.

Sew your two lining pieces RIGHT sides together.

Make sure you leave a small opening at the bottom.

RIGHT sides together place your main bag into your lining.

Sew around. Pull your main bag through your lining hole and insert your lining into your bag.

To create your casing for your rope, you will need to sew a straight line above the side opening and a line directly below your side opening.

Using scotch tape and a safety pin, thread your rope through your bag. Place your rope through ONE of the holes and go all the way around until you come out the SAME HOLE. Using another piece of rope start at the OPPOSITE hole and go around till you come out through the opposite hole again. You should end up with TWO pieces out of each hole. Pull your rope and your bag should close on itself.
